Training Classes are held on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.  The classes are continuous and new members can be added at any time.  These sessions are FREE to rescue volunteers and their foster dogs.  All other participants are urged to make a donation of $125 and to visit some of the local rescue groups listed here:

Equipment required:
* a 6 foot cloth or leather leash
* a Gentle Leader or Halti headcollar
Equipment is available at class.

The classes will be held at Crescenta Valley Park, Honolulu Ave. at Dunsmore, in La Crescenta CA.  For driving directions go to Mapquest.

An email list on Egroups.com has been created to disseminate class information.  To join, please go to www.egroups.com/group/k9rescue.  Please read the file which will be emailed to you upon your acceptance to the group.  It contains your registration application as well as other class information.  The file can also be viewed at the Yahoogroup website: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/k9rescue.  Bring the completed application and vaccination records to your first class.  Newcomers must contact me before attending.

Carpooling is a great idea, so get to know your classmates and save some gas!

Want to learn more about dogs before you get one?  Here's how!
1. Become a volunteer.  The rescues listed above, and many others, would be glad to have you.  No experience is required.
2. Ask about my free dog rentals.  No, you can't drive them home, but you can try them out in this "doggie ed" program.  Dog and equipment are provided at no charge for the class, and you may or may not have the same dog each week.  Free dog rentals are available by prior arrangement only, and participants are required to adhere to all class rules.
3. Now that you have volunteered and passed doggie education, you might consider becoming a foster parent.  This very important function helps assure that the foster dogs become acclimated, socialized and confident before going to a new permanent home.  This is excellent preparation before adopting your own rescue dog!
